Antennas and Propagation Technical Group of IEICE
and Pacific Telecommunications Council

October 15-17, 2003
Sheraton Waikiki Hotel and Resort
Honolulu, Hawaii

To help enable next generation of Wireless Communications Technology, the Antennas and Propagation Society of IEEE is pleased to sponsor a topical conference on Wireless Communications Technology. To address the multidisciplinary research needs, the conference will be held in parallel with the "Wireless Grantees Workshop" sponsored by the National Science Foundation during the period of October 12-16, 2003. The conference is technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques society, and the technical/research committee on electromagnetic Theory and the Antennas and Propagation technical group of IEICE.

Topics of interest in this conference include:

  • Smart antennas and adaptive antenna array
  • Advanced propagation modeling and sounding of communication channels
  • Base station and handheld antenna technologies, design and measurement
  • Technologies for ultra-wide band communications
  • Wave and optical technologies for wireless devices and systems
  • Basic theory of EM waves for wireless technology
  • Optical, microwave, and millimeter waveguide technology for wireless systems
  • Front-end receiver design technologies including:
    • High frequency packaging
    • RF MEMS for phase antenna arrays applications
    • Active antennas
    • Advanced microwave circuits design
    • Integration of the physical layer technologies with other OSI communication layers and technologies
    • Assessment of biological effects from handheld device
    • Novel medical applications of wireless devices and systems
